Physiotherapy with Shockwave Treatments
Focused therapy, faster results.
What We Do
As a physiotherapy clinic, we focus on a holistic and client-centred approach to treatment.
Our primary objective is to help clients achieve their best quality of life and Be Vibrant.
We combine the innovative technology of extracorporeal focused shockwave therapy with physiotherapy modalities such as manual therapy, exercise therapy, client education, stress management and ergonomic advice, which creates a comprehensive approach that not only addresses the symptoms, but also targets the underlying causes of many conditions.
This holistic and client-centred approach maximises the chances of a successful recovery and long-term health, and enhances the overall effectiveness of the treatment plan.
What Is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses high-energy soundwaves (shockwaves) to treat a broad range of acute and chronic conditions, promote healing, and reduce pain. It is widely used in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, orthopaedics, sports medicine, urology, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, and veterinary departments.
There are two different types of shockwave therapy: Radial and Focused
Radial shockwaves are pressure waves, they have a penetration depth of 3-4cm and are used for superficial conditions and large muscle groups. Radial waves spread on contact with the skin and become weaker as they penetrate the tissue.
Focused shockwaves are soundwaves, they have a penetration depth of up to 12.5cm and can be used for deep tissue conditions and precise treatment, which makes them more versatile. Focused waves maintain their maximum energy as they penetrate the tissue.
Here at Be Vibrant Physio we use what we consider to be the best focused shockwave machines made by Storz Medical, one of the leading manufacturers in medical technology and equipment.
Benefits of Shockwave Therapy
-
Faster healing
Shockwave therapy promotes the formation of new blood vessels which enhances blood circulation, speeding up the healing process.
-
Deep, precise treatment
Focused shockwaves can penetrate up to 12.5cm inside the body, reaching areas conventional physio cannot access.
-
Improved function
Effective and fast results on a wide range of acute and chronic conditions that affect muscles, nerves, tendons, bones or skin.
-
Pain relief
Shockwave therapy disrupts pain signal transmission and reduces pain related substances in the body.
-
Non invasive treatment
No incisions, injections or anaesthesia reduces the risk of infection, scarring or other complications.
-
Non-drug approach
Shockwave therapy can replace the need for pain medication or steroid injections, reducing risks of dependancy or tissue damage.

Why consider shockwave therapy and how does it work?
Where to find us
We are located at Studio 17 right next to the picturesque River Thames in Richmond, West London.
There's ample free parking in Lidl opposite the clinic for 90 minutes (no purchase required) and good public transport links nearby.
From Richmond Station the 490, H37, R68 and R70 buses to Cresswell Road (Stop X) take approximately 9 minutes.
There are also bike racks on both sides of the pavement outside the clinic.
After almost two years of either living in (sometimes debilitating) pain with plantar fasciitis (PF) and not doing anything about it or having some unproductive and even counterproductive osteopathy and physiotherapy sessions/advice, I did some research into best treatments for PF and found Nim's focussed shockwave therapy (FSWT).
After 3 sets of FSWT sessions I'm now almost pain free, and I'm certain that a few more sessions will completely eradicate the PF. Unfortunately, at the end of last year I was hit with painful sciatica, and an MRI confirmed that I have two herniated discs (HDs). Nim advised me that FSWT works wonders with HDs, and since this is now my main complaint, we decided to focus on the sciatica, and will then intercalate the PF treatment. I'm feeling very positive about it!
Nim is a very knowledgeable, competent and professional physiotherapist, and an incredibly kind and caring person. She is always patient and keeps reassuring me every time I get frustrated. In addition to the FSWT sessions, I was given a tailored home stretch and self-treatment programme, both for the PF and for the HDs/sciatica.
I cannot recommend Nim and her magical machine enough! Thank you for everything, Nim :)
I came to Nim several months ago frustrated and in pain with a herniated disc what just wasn't healing. I arrived with restricted movement and pain everyday, even when I coughed of sneezed! I paid for 2 sets of shockwave therapy and it is the first time in a year where I feel like myself again. She not only provided the treatment but also was kind, and incredibly reassuring in my moments of frustration. Thank you for everything!
I had started to develop pain in the ball of my foot when I ran and then the pain continued when I walked. I went to the docs and got a diagnosis of a mortons neuroma. After trying various ways to manage the pain, I did some research and found Nim's focussed shockwave therapy. It was a tough commitment to come to 5 sessions in London when I live in Redcar (North East of England) but totally worth it. The pain I had when I run has gone and hopefully it won't come back as I start to increase my distance and frequency.
I 100% recommend Nim, she is such a lovely caring person and made me feel very comfortable during the treatment and also gave me plenty of good advice ☺️
I was struggling with bi-lateral achilles tendinopathy and retrocalcaneal bursitis which was impacting my ability to play sport. Over a number of sessions the Shockwave reduced the swelling, scar-tissue and most importantly the pain and both issues are now completely resolved. I also found Nim extremely professional and really nice to deal with. Recommended.
I tore my rotator cuff several years ago and despite all the physio the hospital gave me and pain injections I was still left sore and frustrated. It never seemed to heal properly and exercise aggravated it. My Osteopath recommended Shock Wave Therapy.
I can safely say (without exaggeration!) that the treatment with Nim has changed my life! I booked a course and Nim explained everything really clearly, I was skeptical because nothing else had worked. I’m so grateful to Nim because I can now move freely and get back to proper exercise!
I would highly recommend Nim and the Shock Wave Therapy treatment .
