Dedicated Expertise in Focused Shockwave Therapy

Nim specialises exclusively in the clinical application of focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy, rather than simply offering shockwave as an additional treatment modality.

Focused shockwave therapy uses acoustic energy concentrated at a precise focal point deep within the body. This differs fundamentally from radial pressure wave therapy, which delivers a divergent wave with different physical characteristics and tissue penetration depths.

To ensure the right care pathway, Nim provides a free 30-minute phone consultation to discuss whether focused shockwave therapy is suitable. Every new client then undergoes a comprehensive 30-minute clinical assessment to formulate an individualised treatment plan.

Her clinical practice covers a broad range of complex musculoskeletal conditions, including:

Persistent tendon pathologies (tendinopathies)

Plantar heel pain and plantar fasciitis

Calcific tendonitis and soft-tissue disorders

Joint, spinal, and pelvic conditions

Post-op and/or post-trauma scar tissue

Complex, acute, and persistent pain presentations

Why Physiotherapy Experience Matters

Shockwave therapy is not simply a matter of applying a machine to a painful area. Accurate clinical assessment is vital to identify the true driver of symptoms and determine if shockwave is indicated.

Nim’s extensive physiotherapy background ensures treatment is delivered within the broader context of movement quality, biomechanics, overall health, and long-term rehabilitation needs.
Where appropriate, focused shockwave therapy is combined with targeted rehabilitation rather than delivered as a standalone intervention.

Her practice is centred on resolving underlying causes rather than just treating isolated symptoms.

Clinical Background & Experience

Before qualifying as a physiotherapist, Nim worked as a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist. Her subsequent NHS and private clinical background spans diverse fields, including:

NHS Musculoskeletal Outpatient Services

NHS Orthopaedic, Neurological, and Respiratory Services

NHS Cardiology, Community Physiotherapy, and Elderly Care

Specialist charities including MSAction and Mind

Private physiotherapy clinics, including QMotion at Queen Mary’s University (East London)

This extensive experience allows Nim to assess and treat complex, multi-layered clinical presentations with confidence.

Professional Memberships & Registration

Nim maintains full professional registration and active memberships with:

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)

The International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment (ISMST)

These affiliations offer clients complete confidence in her clinical standards, safety protocols, and ongoing professional development.

Personal Experience of Rehabilitation and Chronic Pain

Nim’s decision to pursue a career in healthcare was shaped by her own experience with severe injury.
In 1994, a major back injury left her temporarily unable to walk, leading to a challenging four-year recovery journey.

Having experienced severe pain, temporary disability, and extensive rehabilitation first-hand, Nim understands that recovery is rarely linear. She appreciates how persistent pain impacts every dimension of a person's life, driving her compassionate, holistic approach to client care.

Our Approach to Focused Shockwave Therapy

At Be Vibrant Physio, treatment is always clinically reasoned. Your initial consultation determines:

1. What is causing or contributing to your symptoms.

2. Whether focused shockwave therapy is appropriate for your specific case.

3. Which anatomical structures should be targeted for treatment.

4. Whether alternative interventions, rehabilitation, or further medical investigation form the best management path.

If focused shockwave is not appropriate for your condition, this will be clearly explained and alternative management options discussed.
