Focused Shockwave Therapy FAQ's continued

  • Questions icon

Can I resume normal activities after focused shockwave therapy?

Most clients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment, although it is advised to avoid intense physical activity involving the treated area for a few days if possible to allow optimal healing.

Do you only treat local people?

We have clients from different parts of the UK and overseas. There are good public transport links to Richmond and we are close to Heathrow airport. There is also 90 minutes free parking at Lidl - the supermarket opposite the clinic (no purchase required).

    What should I wear?

Depending on the condition being treated, loose-fitting clothes or if applicable a pair of shorts to change into.

Why do I feel worse after a session?

There are 3 responses to a single shockwave session:

1) a feeling of improvement 2) no perceived change 3) a feeling of worsening condition.

Client response to shockwave therapy is not a linear progression, especially if the condition is chronic or sub-chronic, so there may be times over the duration of a treatment plan that a client can feel worse after a session. This is perfectly normal and temporary.

Do you offer discounts for block bookings?

No, our treatment plans start with 5 sessions as a minimum, and are designed to progress clients through a pain management stage on to treating the cause of the condition where applicable and not just treating the symptoms. Our primary goal is total rehabilitation wherever possible, and no client returning for the same condition for the same part of the body.

How can I apply for a refund?

If your treatment plan has not started yet, you can cancel your plan and request a refund by contacting us, either by phone or email. If you have paid for an initial assessment and would like a refund, then please give at least 24 hours’ notice. As our treatment plans include a pain management stage, once a 5 session treatment plan has been agreed and paid for, no partial refunds will be issued for change of mind mid-plan.

  • Questions icon

Will a gap in the treatment plan affect the treatment ?

No, shockwave therapy continues working after each session as it initiates changes in the body. There are some conditions that require gaps larger than a week between sessions to be most beneficial.
